Stock Market Closure: Business Week Ends on a Positive Note, Sensex Up by 118 Points and Nifty Up by 46 Points

After a two-day slump in the stock market, Friday, June 2, marked the end of the trading week with a surge in market activity. Both key indices closed in the green. The Sensex gained 118 points to reach 62,547, while the Nifty rose by 46 points to close at 18,534. The Bank Nifty also ended the day on a positive note, up by 147 points at 43,937.

In terms of market capitalization, BSE Mid Cap index closed at 27,294, up by 163 points, while BSE Small Cap index closed at 30,885, up by 174 points.

Top gainers and losers in Sensex:

Tata Steel emerged as the top gainer in the Sensex, with a gain of nearly 2%. Other top gainers included Maruti, Mahindra & Mahindra, Sun Pharma, Larsen & Toubro, Titan, Bharti Airtel, Power Grid, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, and Nestle.

On the other hand, Infosys, Wipro, HCL Technologies, Tata Consultancy Services, IndusInd Bank, Tech Mahindra, Reliance Industries, and Bajaj Finance were the top losers in Sensex.

Top gainers and losers in Nifty 50:

Hindalco Industries led the gainers in Nifty, with a 3.5% increase. Other top gainers included Hero MotoCorp, Apollo Hospitals, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, M&M, and Dr. Reddy's Labs.

Adani Enterprises, Infosys, BPCL, HDFC Life, Tata Consumer Services, Vipro, Ashok Leyland, SBI Life, HCL Tech, and Divi's Labs were among the top losers in Nifty.

Crude oil prices rose:

The global benchmark Brent crude oil witnessed a jump of 1.74%, reaching $75.57 per barrel. According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold equities worth Rs. 71.07 crore from the Indian market on Thursday.

Indian Rupee strengthens:

The Indian rupee closed at 82.31 against the US dollar, gaining 9 paise. As per the figures released by the Ministry of Finance, GST collection in May increased by 12% to Rs. 1.57 lakh crore.

Asian markets, including Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, closed in positive territory. Similarly, European equity markets also traded in the green, while the US market closed with gains on Thursday.
